Pas-de-Calais region in France.
Located on the strait of the Dover channel, Pas-de-Calais region is known for its ample daylight, stable precipitation and natural surrounding.
Having rich natural resources, Pas-de-Calais was long dependent on mining, primarily the coal mines during the French Industrial Revolution in the 18th century.
Along with the growth of its mining business, Pas-de-Calais flourished.
There are still facilities that exist till this day, such as housing, churches and schools that mining workers and their families utilized.
Many those buildings were made of brick.
These bricks have seen the growth of Pas-de-Calais and are a part of its history.
Our project is to use these old, historical bricks to dye fabric. The color of the fabric shows the red brown traced from the bricks.
History renewed as cloth on our skin to continue the history and culture of this region.
Underdress: 100% cotton
All natural dye
Please note, each piece is unique which may show slight difference in color.
